Sky have got their new Sky Player app which replaces the old Silverlight based one. We had a situation where the app would open up just fine and start playing the stream but then stop after a few seconds. The app would remain open, and you could restart the stream from the website but it would stop after a few seconds again.
After the obvious troubleshooting and a bit of a think we noticed that the Windows 10 Snipping Tool was open in the background. Closed that down and lo, the Player played.
There must be some checking code in the player that refuses to run if it detects various screen capture type applications running. As such it wouldn’t surprise me if the same symptoms happened with other screen capture or remote access software like TeamViewer or maybe even some video conference stuff too.
Hopefully this might save you all a few headaches…
